Jump’s Managing Director Brigitte Headley ‘Gets on Board’ with The Canadian Board Diversity Council

27, Jun. 2012

Brigitte Headley, Managing Director here at Jump Branding & Design Inc., recently participated in and completed the Introductory ‘Get on Board’ Governance Education Program. The multi-day workshop is part of the Canadian Board Diversity Council (CBDC) initiative. Launched by The Jeffrey Group Founder Pamela Jeffrey in 2009, the Council looks to inspire diversity in the composition of Canadian corporate boards.

Ms. Jeffrey is also the force behind the Women’s Executive Council (WXN), which Brigitte is a founding member. WXN is the largest community of influential, powerful and successful women in Canada, delivering innovative networking, mentoring, and professional support to executive-minded women in the workforce.

In only a few years, The Canadian Board Diversity Council has become a leading organization in advancing diversity in the management roles of Canadian businesses. Their mandate is to improve corporate performance and foster economic growth by expanding the parameters from which potential board members are selected. Targeting ethnicity, gender and other minority status markers, their focus is not on quotas but instead on broadening board networks to better reflect the business markets they represent.

The Council’s three-pronged approach – research, education and advocacy – has evolved to create the Get on Board Governance Education Program for male and female business managers across the country. The skill set the three-part series administers addresses a strong understanding of the foundation of boards, their governance principles, and approaches to maximizing roles within a board.

A big congratulations from everyone at Jump goes out to Brigitte on her completion of the Spring 2012 Introductory Series. Continuing to create a business environment that reflects the inclusivity of our national discourse is more important than ever in the continued growth of the Canadian marketplace.
