Twitter rolls out new background image option

“Because you have more to show” is the headline of a new post on https://blog.twitter.com. Adapting the popular profile cover image trend pushed by Facebook, social media giants LinkedIn and Twitter are now allowing their users the option to have a main display image on their profile pages. This allows users to create a more visually engaging first impression on page viewers and communicate more about themselves on their profile pages.

For individuals, this definitely opens up the opportunity to better display their personal characteristics and creativity. For brands, it is probably best to align their cover pictures across all three social media platforms in order to create a consistent online brand identity.
